Being all we can be in 2008!

Hi World we are back in 2008 with a fabulous new bunch of kids in Room 6. We have exciting news to share already, we are going to be on a music video on TVNZ channel 6 singing alongside Kayne Peters the host of Kidzone. The music video project is about encouraging children to give new things a go which we think is a great thing! We are very excited and we have started learning our 4 songs already, we only have one week to learn them. Mrs C-B was AMAZED at us on Friday because we picked up one song really quickly even before we had heard it through once. Stay tuned for much more information and photos of our progress.

We all think we are pretty fantastic so our first topic for the year we will be looking at super heroes.

Our Inquiry is called "How can I be, all I can be?". We are Tuning In at the moment and the first thing we did was draw what we think a super hero is.

Here are our Key Concepts and Understandings for the topic.
1. There are many different types of super heroes
2. People have different ideas about super heroes. Our views are influenced by our experiences, our culture, our gender and other factors.
3. There are strategies we can use to become more effective super heroes.
4. There are many super heroes of the past who have a significant impact on our present. Today super heroes will influence the future.

If you have some heroic stories to share with us then leave a comment below.

Andrew said when he was snorkeling out with his Mum he saw a crayfish that was going to grab her so I went under and got the crayfish away from her.

Lydia went to the beach and I accidently fell in the water and my brothers friend Max caught me.

Hi Mrs CB
At Waikuku beach I had my first go on a flying fox. Dad ran beside me.
When my brother Connor had his first go I ran beside him to watch out for him.

That sounds great Hamish, it is great to be kind and helpful to younger brothers.

You are a nice boy in the classroom.

Dear Mrs CB. This is about kidzone. It was really hard singing the songs and doing the actions at the same time.I felt exhausted after.I still really liked it and I am looking forward to seeing myself and my friends on TV.
