For homework Room 6 had to interview our parents about:
1. What they think a Super Hero is?
2. What Super Heroes did your parents know of when they were your age?
Here are some of the answers!
Question 1 and 2 answers.
Petra's interview answers.
Q.1
Great Grandma - A sports person.
Great Aunty Denise - Someone who can fly.
Great Grandad - Someone who sets out to save the world.
Dad - Someone who helps people.
Mum - A Super person who helps people.
Q.2
Great Grandma - She did not know any.
Aunty Denise - Tarzan.
Great Grandad - Boys own hero's.
Dad - Lots and lots and lots, Spider man, Bat man.
Mum - Incredible Hulk.
Amy's interview answers.
Q.1
Hero's are amongst us every day. They are people who have done something extraordinary to help others without wanting to be thanked. A self less act.
A Super Hero is all of those things combined with extra super skills like being able to fly, run extra fast or being extra strong.
Q.2
Super hero's Mum knew when she was small include Super man and Wonder Woman.
Lydia's interview answers.
Q.1
Mum - Someone who is kind, considerate, helps others, confident, gentle and patient.
Q.2
Mum -A man I called Grandad Orr (not my real Grandad). He was my 'adoptive Grandad', he taught me to milk cows, raise orphan lambs and climb big haystacks looking for hens eggs. Guess What? My Super Hero didn't have tights or a cape.
You can see that all of these answers are similar in some ways.
A question to ask ourselves.
Do Super Heroes have to wear a cape and tights? Leave a comment and tell us what you think!

Excited at Kidzone!
Here are two of our lovely Room 6 children at Kidzone. They are called Tanelle and Tyler and I think they look pretty cool in this photo.
As you can see they have just having play lunch.
We had such a great, awesome, fabulous, exciting, stupendous, fantastic, exhilarating time at the Pickled Possum Studio. Room 6 were all FANTASTIC and they have even asked us to do an extra song tomorrow (that's when we are off to the studio again).
It was great to have Mr Larson come along. Thank you for that! We also had some parent helpers who we would like to thank as well.
I could tell you lots but I am leaving that up to Room 6.
Room 6 add a comment and tell us what you thought of our time at the Television Studio.

We will take lots of photos so we can show you our adventure and we may be able to take some video footage.
Mrs C-B is so proud of us all, and she is really looking forward to the experience.

The Journey Of Our New Classrooms!
Our School is getting two new classrooms and they are being built during this term. As these buildings grow we have been looking at how we build our learning community as part of our inquiry topic. As the classroom outside grows from foundations to framework to completed building, so too will our Room 6 learning community.
At the moment we are laying our foundations by getting to know each other and discovering more about our class mates, establishing our super hero rules of conduct, and setting our learning goals.
We are finding out lots of information and Mrs C-B discovered today that one of the pupils in Room 6 shares her birthday. This is the first time in her 12 years of teaching that this has happened!
She also was delighted in the excellent discussion happening after today's book news about how we are all unique, different and very special because of those differences.
You can see in the slide show that we have been taking photos every day (except the weekend). We were excited today to see the concrete being poured into the holes.
Room 6 kids please add a comment on what you think of the progress of our classroom and the new buildings.

Being all we can be in 2008!

Hi World we are back in 2008 with a fabulous new bunch of kids in Room 6. We have exciting news to share already, we are going to be on a music video on TVNZ channel 6 singing alongside Kayne Peters the host of Kidzone. The music video project is about encouraging children to give new things a go which we think is a great thing! We are very excited and we have started learning our 4 songs already, we only have one week to learn them. Mrs C-B was AMAZED at us on Friday because we picked up one song really quickly even before we had heard it through once. Stay tuned for much more information and photos of our progress.
We all think we are pretty fantastic so our first topic for the year we will be looking at super heroes.
Our Inquiry is called "How can I be, all I can be?". We are Tuning In at the moment and the first thing we did was draw what we think a super hero is.
Here are our Key Concepts and Understandings for the topic.
1. There are many different types of super heroes
2. People have different ideas about super heroes. Our views are influenced by our experiences, our culture, our gender and other factors.
3. There are strategies we can use to become more effective super heroes.
4. There are many super heroes of the past who have a significant impact on our present. Today super heroes will influence the future.
If you have some heroic stories to share with us then leave a comment below.
