Flags!

Why do South Korea and North Korea have different flags?

Which flag is for South Korea?

The difference between South and North Korea!

Our answers to this question!!

There is a huge difference between North and South Korea's economy. North Korea is a very poor country.  Many people in North Korea starve to death.  Also the government is controlling the economy.

South Korea is almost the opposite and is a pretty wealthy country.  It is a free economy just like NZ.
South Korea is a democratic country that means the public get to vote.  It has evolved into a heavily industrialised country.
The standard of living is great by world standards and the people are well fed and there is stability.

North Korea
North Korea is a communist country, that means that the public do not get a vote of who will be prime minister and who will be in parliament.  It is ruled by Kim Jong IL who took over from his father since he died.
The country has as isolation policy.  The country is run by a socialist dictator.  A personality cult is being generated by the state media around President Kim.  North Korea is currently building nuclear weapons capabilities which are causing anxiety on the Peninsula.
The roads are almost unusable and there has been some small uprising in some areas.

We would like to ask the children of Korea these questions.

What is your favourite food?
What hobbies do you have?
Could you tell me about your school?
What is it like living in South Korea?
What is your name?
Do you have brothers or sisters?
How many hours do you go to school?
Do you play a instrument?  If so what instrument do you play?
What games do you play in school in South Korea?
What do you do in school in Korea?
What lunches do you have in Korea?
Do you have a pet?
What is your favourite game?
Do you have any teddy bears or dolls?
What sort of sports do you play in South Korea?
What time does school start and finish?
What is your main food?
Do you have any flash houses?
What is it like living in your country?
What is the weather like where you live?
What is the main religion in South Korea?
Are people in South Korea poor?
Do you ever get scared of North Korea?
How warm does the weather get?
What are three of your countries laws?
What is something you have in common with us?
Do you have any electronic things like play stations, computers, t.v's?
Have you ever been to the North border?
Does your family recycle?
Where in South Korea do you live?
Does your school recycle?

I wonder how we could find out these answers?  Leave me a comment and tell me!

Globalisation - What we think it means?

What is Globalisation?

We asked our parents this question and these are the answers they gave us!

*All becoming one world or country.
*The world coming together and caring for each other.
*Something that effects the whole world.

*Making the world one, not hundreds of little countries so we're all members.
*When something goes worldwide.
*When a company say New World, starts in Dunedin, then goes Nation wide and is then sold all around the world.

*Being able to buy the same things in lots of different countries.
*Connection of the world and different cultures by trade, internet, phones and travel.
*A process of interaction and integration among the people.
*The world working together through trade agreements and selling natural resources.  We then can build economies to provide a better place for us to live.

*How the world is becoming a smaller place, like technology and air travel make it easier for people on one side of the world to communicate with, or travel to people on the other side of the world.

*When every country works together eg saving environment, swapping produces.
*Treating the world as one entity, ignoring the usual international boundaries.
Worldwide , Nations agree to do something.
*The idea to make the world work together to prevent future wars.

*When companies sell the same brand of product all around the world.  The world growing together.  Someone is Asia might have the same microwave as I do in NZ.
*Large amount of pollution world wide.  Constant use of plastic bags and plastic containers which take 100 years to decompose will eventually ruin our planet.

*The bringing together of all the countries in the world for travel, trade and communication.
*We export food likes of plums.  We export plums to America when it is winter there and summer here, they do that for us.  As well as other countries do similar things.
*When you expand to operate internationally.

Leave a comment and tell me which answer you think fits Globalisation the best.
