Our Awesome Airport Trip!
We were lucky enough to go the Dunedin Airport for a trip as a end of our inquiry celebration. We went with Room 5 which is another room in our division, and Room 7 went on the following day.
We had an awesome time and we were LUCKY enough to have a very kind parent who works at the Airport set up a tour through Mainland.
We got to go INSIDE the Aeroplanes and pretend to steer the planes. This was magical and we would like to thank Mark who is Christians Dad for his awesome help. A special Waa Whoo for you Mark!!
We got to see the fire engine and have a go with holding the hose. It was such a lovely sunny day that it didn't matter too much if we got wet. The fire man dressed Ava up in a fire suit, she looked cool.
We went inside the airport and we got to see the man who checks your suitcases and bags, he put one of our mothers handbags through the machine. It was a bit like an x-ray machine you could see all of the things in her bag on the computer screen. He also used a metal detector on Casey's Dad to see if he was carrying metal, because he might have had a weapon or something dangerous.
We watched some big planes land and take off, the propellers were much bigger than the ones we have seen.
It was such a great way to end our Inquiry. It was the best trip I have ever been on in my whole 12 years of teaching.
This is Lily and she is a pupil in Room 6. She has published her poem about the trip for us.

Here is an acrostic poem from Lily about our trip.
Dud is the name for our tag
U sit down in the plane
Noise of the fire engine and wonderful water
End of the gutter the water went down
Down the escalator we went
Inside the plane there is lots of passengers
No food on the plane please
A great time we had
Inside they have seats
Rushing to arrive in time
Parents came to help we looked in Megan's Mums bag, the machine took an x-ray
Open the security door
Running on the grass playing a game of duck duck goose
Time to see from the window to watch the big 747
Mothers came to our airport trip
Ate our lunch on the luscious field near the fence
I had a wonderful time
Nice of Christian's Dad Mark to organise
Love watching the aeroplanes and looking inside them
Ate an apple for lunch
Night - it felt like night when the lights went off
Did as the instructors said

Our Friend Kaya!
This is Kaya and he came to our class for 2 weeks. He was from Auckland and he goes to Rosebank school.
He was down from Auckland for a family wedding and Mr Mac his uncle worked at our school, so Kaya came to see what school was like in Dunedin.
He was lovely to have and he liked playing on the flying fox, playing soccer, playing with balls, playing on the tyre rope, doing his art picture that you can see in the slideshow and learning about times tables.
On his last day he bought us a cake with a smiley face on it and you can see in the slideshow us eating it outside on the grass. He also bought us some scorched almonds.
We really enjoyed having Kaya and we hope he keeps in contact with us!
Leave a comment Room 6 and tell us what you remembered about his stay.

Anti-Litter Posters!
Find more photos like this on If I could change the world...
We have made Anti-Litter posters and the children have decided to put them around the school in the classroom windows. They also have decided to gently remind people when they see them littering! Room 6 have been very proactive in their thinking.
The children have been picking up a bag of rubbish every day in their table groupings. They have noticed the school looking cleaner and have been making up games around picking up rubbish, this I feel was a very creative idea.
I was impressed with their art work and design!
