Mrs Johnson's Visit! Petra's Mum!!

Today Petra's Mum came and she showed us and Room 5 how to gut a fish. She gutted a Mullet and we saw it's guts, liver and stomach. I had to go outside to get some fresh air. The fish still tasted yum.

I hated looking at it's blood! I have eaten a fishes eye ball before it was white and small. I ate it in one bite. The fish was dry and it was about 2cm long, it was grey and white and orange.

The fish we ate today was about 28cm long, but it was still small. I had tasted one in Japan before.

Petra's Mum lived on a farm so she knows how to gut a fish, and she has gutted hens, chickens and ducks.

Thank you Mrs Johnson.

Keita

Mrs Johnson came to Room 6 with a dead fish and a knife, a bucket, and an ice cream container.
We all got into a circle and Mrs Johnson started to talk about the fish, I think it was called a Mullet.

When the fish was getting cut Mrs Johnson showed us the fishes liver, guts. intestines, stomach, heart and bottom.

A fact from Mrs Johnson was the Maori chopped off the fishes head and made fish head soup!

Amy

I think seeing Mrs Johnson gut a fish was pretty revolting but still cool. She showed us and Rm 5 the liver, intestine, stomach, guts and bottom. The fish was a Mullet.

It tasted so DELICIOUS!!! I had 2 helpings. The 2nd one didn't taste very nice somehow. Mullet tastes like chicks on the outside and chicken[food] on the inside.

Pet Day!

WOW what an amazing day we had. Thank you to Mrs Wood and our student council for organising such a cool event.

We had ducklings, rabbits, blue tongued lizards, dogs, goats, cats, fish, guinea pigs, rats, mice, soft toys that had been dressed up and an ant farm. I have never been involved in such a cool pet day before at any of my previous school's.

We went to different rooms and did an activity linking in with the pet theme. The children in my room made a habitat and a mixed up animal. Lots of creative ideas! We then went back to our rooms and made sand saucers which were later judged by the council for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Then we wandered from class to class looking at all of the wonderful things people had made and all of the animals.

After lunch we had a pet parade where and each section was judged by a lady from pet planet (the lady from pet planet donated some AWESOME prizes). We then had an assembly where the lady fro the SPCA came and talked to us bringing Walter the dog. We presented her with our donations that we had brought along to school.

Hi Mrs CB, This is a photo of the dolphin I made out of a banana. It was a little tricky to make as it got a bit mushy. From Chanelle

Dear Mrs C-B

My potato Angler fish was our dinner!! I made it with potato, one piece of broccoli, silver beet, and two raisins for the eyes. I stuck it together with tooth picks.

I made an Angler fish because they live down in the midnight zone and that is my favourite zone.

Keita's Puffer Fish!

Dear Mrs CB

I thought of a sea creature that was a round shape because I've got an Orange. And I thought of a puffer fis
h. I made it out of Orange and lots of toothpicks. I got a pen and I wrote a mouth and eyes.

From Keita

P.S. I was going to ask my mum to take a photo of it over the weekend and
send it to you. But I wanted to show the class my puffer fish, so I didn't send a photo.

Mason's Orange and Grape Caterpillar!

This is Mason's orange and grape caterpillar. It is so cool and I am impressed that he has been inspired by the photo's below and made one himself.

AWESOME job Mason!!

Leave a comment and tell Mason what you think of it!

Wow, we think that your caterpillar is awesome Mason - you are very creative. Mrs C-B might like to look on Room 10 Outram's blog as I have put up some cool creative painted hand pictures. Maybe that could be your next fun task!
Well done Mason from Mrs P and Room 10 at Outram School.

This is such a cool comment for Mason that I decided to show you all on the blog!! Thank you Mrs P and Room 10.

Our New Readers Map!

We have started another year with our readers map, so I thought I would get a different map for us.

This one is cool and you will see that if you run your cursor over the star you will find out what country the people live in.
