White Sunday Designs!

Room 6 have been learning so much about Samoa. They were quite intrigued with the ceremony of White Sunday and enjoyed reading the book White Sunday in Samoa.

The children thought it sounded like a great children's day and were fascinated with the white clothing that the Samoan children wore for this ceremony.

I decided to set them a task of designing their own White Sunday clothing. I gave each group a certain amount of white paper, and just let them go for it. You can see in the pictures how creative they are being. We are still working on the final product.

Stay tuned for more photos when we have finished.

Leave a comment and tell us what you think! Room 6 leave a comment and tell us more information on White Sunday.

Ava and I worked together in a team to design our brilliant White Sunday outfit. Ava measured the top and I had to be still as a statue. It was great fun. White Sunday is only once a year and the kids get to eat first. I think it is important that they have this day or else they will get left out.

It was fun making the white Sunday costumes, and interesting. Rebecca, and Ben were in my group. Rebecca was the model and we had to make her top tighter.

In Samoa they have white Sunday for the children, they go to church in white clothes and hats.

In Samoa they have a white Sunday where the children dress in white and go to church. They get to eat before the adults on this special day.

I liked making the costume, Hamish and Jamie were in the my group. I was the model, it was funny because I had to wear it.

Olivia L. Matt W and I worked together in a group to make a white sunday costume. Our group made a skirt and a top. You had to make it out of white paper. We also made decorations to stick to our costume. Matt W was our model. We also made a song up and some other things. I read out the facts about what we learnt about Samoa and we all read the song out. It was lots of fun and I enjoyed it.

It was fun, I was the model, my lava lava was too big. I had to hold it up.

Samao has a Prime Minister and lots of chiefs. Coconut shell is firewood in Samoa.
