Reiko, Douglas and Kenji!!

We were very lucky in Room 6 to have Reiko, Douglas and Kenji McMurray sharing some of their Japanese culture with us last week. Douglas is from our class and shared some of the elements of his own culture with us. His mother and brother were kind enough to come in and share as well.

We had a fantastic display of Kendo put on by Douglas and Kenji. Room 7 came and watched as well, because Kenji is in Room 7.

We felt very proud of Douglas and Kenji! Douglas was awarded with the Room 6 pupil of the week prize.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us Reiko, Kenji and Douglas. You are AWESOME!!

My favourite part was the kendo because it was exciting! Reiko brought 2 kimonos to show us and told us about the festivals in Japan. Sometimes my friend Douglas teaches me Japanese words. Thank you for teaching Room 6 about Japan.

That was amazing to see the costumes that they wear in Japan. The sport Kendo looks interesting, I would like to learn it. It would have been great to see Douglas and Kenji doing it!!

Wow room 6. How lucky you are to have such interesting things going on in your class.
It would have been fabulous to watch Kenji and Douglas in action.

Douglas and Kenji came to show us their sports. Kenji had been doing it for 2 years, so he had a big helmet with metal bits around his face, it was really hard to hear him talking. Douglas has been doing it for a year. They did stick fights for us and Douglas would hold his stick above his head and Kenji would hit it. When Douglas hit Kenji he would hit him in the middle of the helmet. It was FUN I had never seen anything like that before..
