Simpson and his Donkey - The Donkey of Gallipoli!

What we think this book is about - in our own words....

A man named Simpson went to Gallipoli. He carried wounded back from the front until they ran out of stretchers. Then he used a donkey to help save the wounded soldiers. He was very brave and the
Sikh soldiers called him Bahadur, bravest of the brave.

Jack Simpson trained as an Allied soldier and went to Gallipoli. He carried wounded soldiers from the battle front and also brought water to the thirsty soldiers. He and his donkey became famous for helping people.

He gave his life that others may live.....

Before the war, a young man named Jack Simpson gave Donkey rides to people on the beach for a penny. He was forced to go to war and at training camp he didn’t do very well. Instead of fighting and shooting, he decided to save the wounded and take them back to the base with stretchers. He was kind and gentle. Not long after that he found a donkey. They started to run out of stretchers so Jack used his Donkey. He also brought water to the thirsty soldiers. He was called Bahadur by the Sikh gunners, which means the bravest of them all. It was very risky to go and save the soldiers and he saved lots of lives.
