Art Gallery Trip!

Today we had a very successful trip to the Dunedin Art Gallery. We have been studying about ourselves, so John (the Art Gallery guy) took us around lots of different portraits and exhibitions first and asked us lots of interesting questions that related to the exhibit.

He asked us;

1. What we liked?
2. What sort of pets we had?
3. Who was in our family?
4. What we were scared of?
5. What our favourite food was?

and lots more, but they all related to the key idea that we are all different.

We had to do a fear factor thing when we got up to the Art studio rooms. It was great and people had to try and pull the cloth out form under the cups (you can see this in our slide show). It was all about facing our fear. One of our Dad's tried it and so did Mrs C-B.

We then did some wonderful pictures that related to us as a person. We had to think about symbols. We overlapped them in our picture which created a cool effect.

We used vivid and then dye, crayon and coloured pencil to try and get our pictures to stand out and not look flat. We still haven't finished them and we will be completing these in class.

THANK YOU to the parent helpers on the trip and a special mention to Tyler's Dad Graham who took on the fear factor challenge in his suit (the cups had water in them)!!

Room 6 leave a comment and tell us what you thought of the day! I was very proud of you all on the trip.

I loved going to the art gallery because I REALLY like art. I loved it when my Dad surprised me and visited us on the trip and I liked it when he had to do the magic trick. It made me feel special. I liked looking at the big balloon egg. Tyler.

I really enjoyed going to the Art Gallery. I liked looking at all of the paintings and doing my own drawing. I thought the big round balloon was awesome. It was heaps of fun having a go at the magic trick, it was easy to do.
